Security Experience to Protect Your Family

Let me introduce myself, my name is Colin Amey, I became involved in security on a full time basis in 1986, after spending many years in engineering research/development at Marconi's and a number of years in various management and marketing positions.

My experience of security and crime prior to that date had mainly been as a victim, involving robberies, both from the office where I worked and from my car. Since 1986 however I have seen and in some cases witnessed, the devastating effect that many crimes have had, both on individuals and companies that have become victims, or are related to victims of these offences.

Many of these honest, law abiding victims of crime (including friends and relations), had previously thought (like many of you reading this), that: "it won't happen to us, why would anybody rob us or attack us, anyway we're insured". But once these people have become victims, their attitude changes dramatically. They nearly always take their security and safety very seriously from then on, those that don't often, unfortunately become victims again.

I am a husband, a father and a grandfather and I feel passionately about making our world a better, safer place to live, for all honest, family loving, hard working individuals (like you and your family members - especially the children and the elderly), that many of today's crimes affect so deeply.

No Honest law abiding person should have to put up with living in fear or having their lives upset, or in some cases ruined by the low life that carry out these crimes. Instead of fearing crime, I want you to understand the risks and threats that we all face and discover how to recognise them and protect against them. By doing this you reduce the chance of you or a loved one becoming a victim and regain your peace of mind.

This site and my new 211 (A4) page security and safety book How to Protect Your Family and Belongings Now , will hopefully go some way towards these ends, by assisting you all to become more aware and to recognise situations that could put you and or your family at risk. The site also provides information on the type of products that are available and shows you ways of reducing the risks we face to a minimum. The site and the book will be regularly added to and updated.

Whilst I am a strong believer in law and order, I believe that in a number of areas the laws need to be enforced more strongly and in some cases modified significantly, to keep pace with a rapidly changing world and to give people the degree of protection that they are both entitled to and deserve. If this does not happen very soon, I fear that many more of us will feel forced to take the law into our own hands, to protect our families and belongings and if necessary then justify and face up to the consequences of our actions.
