Tasers
Air tasers are used by leading security organisations and law enforcement agencies throughout the world. Air tasers are non injurious and have no long term effects on the target.
Protection For You and Your Family
Many consumers are now replacing their hand guns with tasers, because of their non lethal immobilisation capabilities.
Many families have become worried that if they shoot a violent intruder or attacker with a gun (even though it is used in self defense to protect their own lives), they are the ones likely to face prosecution. Their lives (even though they still have them), their jobs, their homes could all be severely jeopardised, on top of which they may well be sued by the family of the deceased intruder. Your family is safe, but homeless and broke and you are in jail - some justice. While still not risk free as far as the law is concerned, the risks of prosecution are less when a stun gun or taser is used.
How do Tasers Work?
Tasers work in the same way as a stun gun, but instead of the electrodes being firmly fixed to the body of the gun, they are positioned at the end of long conductive wires which are attached to the guns circuitry. These electrodes are fired from the gun by a compressed air cartridge which is broken open by dpressing the gun trigger. The range of these electrodes is around 15-20 feet (4-6metres).
Each electrode is fitted with small barbs which enables them to grip on to an attackers clothing (they do not depend on body penetration) and are effective through up to two inches of clothing thickness . Once the electrodes are attached the current travels down the trailing wires into the attacker, stunning him in the same way as a normal stun gun.
Because air tasers disrupt the central nervous system (you apply electricity to a persons muscles and nerves), you effectively incapacitate him by interfering with the human command and control system. In fact it doesn't matter where you hit an attacker because there are muscles and nerves all over the body.
The advantage of a taser is that you can stun attackers from a greater distance, albeit you only get one shot. After shooting you have to rewind the electrode wires and change the gas cartridge before you can fire again.
When a taser is fired in self defense, manufacturers recommend that it is left attached to the attacker, incapacitating him while you get to safety. Tasers normally release electric current in preset time sequences - an initial release of around seven seconds, followed by several 1.8 second breaks over a 30 second time cycle. This cycle ensures that the nervous system of the attacker does not recover enough for him to remove the electrodes, it also gives you time to escape to safety.
Many tasers also have a pair of ordinary fixed electrodes like a standard stun gun, handy if there are multiple attackers or you miss your target.
Restrictions on Use
Tasers are restricted in many parts of the world including:
Hawaii Massachusetts Michigan New Jersey New York Rhode Island Wisconsin As well as a number of Cities
Australia Belgium Canada Denmark Hong Kong India (police only) Italy New Zealand Norway Sweden Switzerland United Kingdom
Please check current restrictions before purchase
REMEMBER
The effect of a stun gun or taser charge may vary to some extent from one person to another.
Stun guns and tasers generally need 3-5 seconds of contact (some manufacturers claim immediate takedown for their more advanced models), to be effective - what is the assailant going to be doing during this time? More than likely he is going to fight back and may in fact grab the stun device and zap you before he becomes paralysed.
The optimum shot is from a distance of seven to ten feet from the target, this achieves the most effective spread of the electrodes at impact i.e. approximately 16 inches
Air tasers are the ONLY non-lethal remote defense system that can immobilise an attacker from a distance of up to 15 feet away.
